The basics

Yes. A quote and a conversation with Jorge are completely free, with no obligation. You never pay a fee to work with an independent agent; agents are paid by the carrier when you choose a policy.
Two easy ways: request a free quote on this site, or simply call or text Jorge at (607) 601-2278. The first step is always a short, friendly conversation, about ten minutes, no pressure.
It depends entirely on the product, the carrier, and your health answers. Some plans decide quickly, others take longer. Jorge will tell you what to expect for your situation before you apply, and no one can promise a timeline before underwriting.
Yes. Your information is used only to prepare your quote and help you get covered. It is never sold, and you decide what happens next.

Can I get covered?

Often no. Many final expense and life plans use a few health questions instead of an exam, and guaranteed-issue options exist even for people who have been declined before. Larger coverage amounts may request an exam.
Very often, yes. Carriers underwrite differently, which is why shopping multiple A-rated carriers matters. As an independent agent, Jorge can usually find a fit even for people managing health issues.
Probably not. Final expense plans commonly cover ages 50 to 85, and there are options across the life-insurance products for many ages. The best way to know is a quick, free call.
A decline from one carrier doesn't mean a decline from all of them, and guaranteed-issue plans accept applicants within an age range with no health questions. Let Jorge shop it for you.

Which coverage is right?

Final expense is small whole life built for funeral costs. Whole life is permanent coverage that builds cash value. Term is affordable temporary coverage for 10, 20, or 30 years. IUL is permanent coverage whose cash value can grow with a market index, within a cap and a floor. Each has its own page on this site.
It depends on the job you need it to do, cover a funeral, protect a mortgage, leave a legacy, or build tax-advantaged value. Many families use a mix. Jorge helps you match the product to your goal and budget.
Enough to do the job, and not a dollar more than you need. For final expense that's often $10,000 to $15,000; for income protection it's often around 10 times your income plus debts. Jorge sizes it with you.
On whole life and final expense, no, the premium is locked for life. On term, it stays level for the length of the term. IUL premiums are flexible within the policy's limits.

New York questions

Only a little, and only for families with low income. NYC's Human Resources Administration can contribute up to $1,700 toward a funeral, and only when the total bill, not counting the grave or cremation, is $3,400 or less (NYC HRA). Most New York funerals cost far more, which is why a final expense policy exists. See how much a funeral costs in New York.
They do different jobs. In New York, money prepaid to a funeral home must be held in trust for you (General Business Law §453), and it is tied to that funeral home's services. A final expense policy pays cash to your beneficiary, who can use it anywhere, including for travel or bringing a loved one home to another country. Read final expense vs. whole life for how the policy itself works.
It depends on how you qualify. A full-benefit (level) policy covers you in full from day one. Graded and guaranteed-issue policies, built for serious health conditions, usually have a waiting period of about two years; if death from natural causes happens in that time, the carrier typically refunds the premiums paid plus interest. The exact terms are written in each policy, and Jorge goes through them with you before you apply.
Yes. New York law requires any insurer selling Medigap in the state to accept a Medicare enrollee's application at any time of year, without considering health, claims history, or age, though a waiting period of up to 6 months for pre-existing conditions can apply (NY DFS). Most states do not work that way. More in our turning 65 in New York timeline.
Yes. HIICAP, New York's State Health Insurance Assistance Program, offers free, objective Medicare counseling through local offices for the aging: call 1-800-701-0501. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) any time. Jorge is glad to help too, in English or Spanish, at no cost.
Insurance agents in New York are licensed by the Department of Financial Services, and you can look up any agent's license on the DFS website or through the national producer database (NIPR) by name or National Producer Number. Jorge Castillo's NPN is 4654668.
Most of the process can be done by phone, and in-person meetings are available in the New York City area by appointment. Call or text (607) 601-2278 or use the contact page to set a time.
Your date of birth, your height and weight, a list of your medications, any major diagnoses or hospital stays in the last few years, who you want as beneficiary, and a monthly amount you are comfortable paying. That is enough for Jorge to compare carriers honestly.
